Busola’s teaching career spans all levels of education from primary school, secondary, to university. Busola’s passion is helping to enhance the lives of children and young adults in Nigeria and other parts of Africa through enhancing their literacy skills.
Having recognised a lack of literacy skills among many young people, despite their having received a formal education, Olubusola began her work in this area by conducting an extensive research into pupils’ literacy problem. This led her to the solution of synthetic phonics teaching method which can achieve an increase of 30-months reading age within 6 months of intervention.
Her intervention programmes have positively impacted on the lives of over thousands of school teachers and their pupils, an achievement which occurred against a backdrop of a struggling public education sector in Nigeria.
She has initiated and supervised the implementation of teacher development programmes at all levels of learning leading to the attainment of growth in teaching skills of teachers and improvement in reading and writing skills of pupils.
She has also set up and managed the establishment of several after school literacy clinics in Nigeria.
Busola currently works as a literacy consultant in the UK.
